MONDAY MORNING THROUGH MY EYES

During a bank-robbery, a murder victim rebukes romanticizing outlaws and glamorizing violence

After the Friday night movie

After the Saturday sleep-in

After the seventh day sermon

After the Sunday night baths

For my children

Comes humble Monday morning

Slowly into focus

The outlaw’s prose is so iambic

To hate the world is so romantic

But stolen coins have two side

Monday morning though my eyes

Anti-heroes quixotic villains

Swaggering pirates criminal brilliance

But it’s chilling not thrilling

Monday morning though my eyes

Many views are semi-obstructed

Optic occlusions in the balcony uppers

Blurred down the aisle

To seats highly prized

Half blind vision fools unguarded minds

Take a look - take a look - take a look

Here and now - here and now

Monday morning though my eyes

Some say bad guys are more engaging

Some say only fools

Are swayed by entertainment

Give the customer what he wants they bray

Violent glamour giddily displayed

Monday Morning Through My Eyes - Unknown Artist

Laughter at tragic slapstick antics

The rush of bandits crashing banquets

Funny it’s not so funny

Monday morning though my eyes

So before rooting for dark forces

Or siding with black hats on horses

Don’t forget to remember

Remember

Remember

Remember

Monday morning through my eyes
